William Neal

Obituary William Clifford Neal, 80, of Morehead City, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, at St. Peters United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karl Zorowski officiating. The interment will follow at Victoria Cemetery, Marshallberg. Raised in Marshallberg, he was born September 30, 1934 in Beaufort to Ralph and Sallie Harris Neal. He served his country in the United States Army and throughout his life had varied careers working for Montgomery Ward, Shell Oil Company, the owner of Billys Landing Restaurant on the Beaufort waterfront, and eventually retiring from boat building. He was an active member of St. Peters United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sue G. Neal; stepdaughter, Laura Herring and husband, Grant Dudley, of Cedar Point; stepson, Michael Herring and wife, Damaris, of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Haddie Hamilton and husband, Walt, of Charlotte; nephews, Mark Hamilton of San Francisco and Timothy Hamilton of Charlotte; he is also survived by many cousins and four special grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his stepson, John R. Herring, Jr., preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to St. Peters United Methodist Church, 111 Hodges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or the charity of ones choice.
