William Filan

Obituary William Robert Filan, 85, of Pine Knoll Shores died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Cherry Point Bay of Havelock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, at St. Egbert Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. Mr. Filan was born in Irvington, NJ on December 31, 1928 to John A. Filan and Catherine Mundweiller Filan. He worked as a Fire Alarm Dispatcher at the East Orange Fire Department, East Orange, NJ for 31 years. After retirement he spent approximately 5 years in the casino industry in Atlantic City, NJ. Mr. Filan served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He moved to Pine Knoll Shores from Toms River, NJ in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Filan; daughters, Kathleen Filan Cullen and husband, James, of Portsmouth, VA, Susan Filan Parent of Cary, NC, Joanne Filan of Nutley, NJ; 2 grandchildren, Kayla and Adam Parent of Apex, NC; brothers, Victor Filan of Pine Knoll Shores, and Ronald Filan of Ocean Gate, NJ; sisters, Dorothy DAutorio of Danbury, CT, Eileen Perrusso of Florham Park, NJ. In addition to his parents, his brother, John Filan and sisters, Martha Craig, Katherine Galas, and Patricia Damon preceded him in death.
