Obituary Willard P. Willis, 90, of Beaufort, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Carteret Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Curtis Going officiating. He was born in Carteret County on March 14, 1926, to David Chamberlin Willis and Georgia Gaskill Willis. Mr. Willis graduated from Harkers Island High School. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the United States Army in the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. Mr. Willis was a barber in Beaufort for more than 40 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel K. Willis of Holly Springs; brother, Max Barry Willis of Rio Grande, NJ; grandson, John Christian Hunt and wife, Laurie. of Beaufort; great-grandchildren, Noah Garrison Hunt, Jacob Christian Hunt and Patricia Gracyn Hunt; nieces and nephews, Glenn, Glenda, Rita and Brenda. In addition to his parents, his wife of 70 years , Evelyn Guthrie Willis, brother, David Glenn Willis, and nephew, John David Willis, preceded him in death. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
