Wayne Peter Schoden

Obituary Wayne Peter Schoden, 80, of Mill Creek, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 5, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 10, 2019 at Brooks Funeral Home with the Rev. Tammy Lee officiating. Wayne was born in Evanston, IL. on July 26, 1938. He is retired from the Air Force as well as a retired firefighter/paramedic with Wilmette, IL Fire Department. Wayne moved to Morehead City in 1985 where he was a general contractor. When not working, he was very active with each of his 5 children and all of their activities, especially with soccer, serving as a coach for numerous teams. Following the early death of his first wife, Susan Joslyn Schoden, Wayne met and married Marlene Jones Schoden. They enjoyed a wonderful life filled with travel, the birth of grandchildren and much time in the garden. In addition to family, Wayne also held dear a love for all things NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his current wife, Marlene Jones Schoden; four sons Christopher Schoden and wife Amanda, Kevin Schoden and wife Jennifer, Kyle Schoden and wife Christian, Keith Schoden and wife Mandy, one daughter Samantha Schoden Odisho; stepdaughters Jill Sullivan and Lori Sullivan; eight grandchildren; sisters Connie Clibourn and Elizabeth Lazarz; and many nieces and nephews. In addition, many others were fortunate to have Wayne serve as a father figure including; David Stroud, Scott Hursa and Caroline Dominguez. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Brooks Funeral Home, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. In addition to his parents, Henry and Marge Schoden, his first wife preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memoriam to the Morehead City Fire E.M.S., 4034 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
