Obituary Walter Dale Humphrey, 64, of Newport died Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Crystal Coast Hospice House. His memorial service will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Brooks Funeral Home at 4:15 PM with Chaplain Rick Brooks officiating. Mr. Humphrey was born March 9, 1953, in Farmville, NC to Walter Carol and Josey Dail Humphrey. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Humphrey, of Newport; 2 sons, Walter Tyler Humphrey, of Virginia Beach, VA., and Brent Edward Humphrey, of Newport, NC; step-son, Jeremey Gabbard, of Wanchese and a daughter, Brandy Lynn Hardin, of Snow Hill; sisters, Betsy ONeil Humphrey Shecter, of Sarasota, FL., Carletta Leola Balance, of Wanchese and Barbara Sheila Frances Miller, of Clayton, NC; 2 step-sisters, Deborah Phillips, of Morehead City, and Becky Beard, of LaGrange; 10 grandchildren, Summer, Kasen, Bailey, Destiney, Sage, Leigh Ann, Austin, Daniel, Hillary and Harley. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Humphrey and a step-brother, Sonny Beard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Walters name be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P. O.
