Obituary Walter Lee Daniel, 83, of Newport, died February 24, 2016 at Carteret Health Care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at St. Egbert Catholic Church with the pastor, the Rev. Thomas Davis, officiating. Mr. Daniel was born March 9, 1932, in Weldon, NC to Annie Taylor OFarow. He retired as a bus driver for the New York City Transit Authority. He is survived by his wife Peggy Daniel of Newport; one daughter Linda Thompson and husband Martin Williams of Virginia Beach; 3 grandchildren, Angelia Daniel Raynor and husband Terrance of Newport, Troy Tucker of Chesapeake, VA, and Erica Thompson of Virginia Beach, VA; 5 great-grandchildren, Traye Burnsworth, Terrance Raynor, Jr., Jordan Tinon, Angelia Love Raynor and Phillip Mitchell; 2 Aunts, Iona Burnette and Martha Bush, both of Roanoke Rapids. In addition to his mother, his son, Walter Jerome Daniel, precedes him in death.
