Violet 'Vi' King

Obituary Violet Vi F. King, 89, of Morehead City, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Carolina House of Morehead City. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1605 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, NC, with the pastor, Dr. Theodore Rust, officiating. Mrs. King was born on November 20, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY, to George S. and Blanche DeLiesseline Francis. She attended college in Jamaica, NY. She was the loving, and much loved, wife of Robert (Bob) King, with whom she corresponded during World War II. Around Christmas, near the end of WWII, they became engaged and Bob and Vi were married the first Sunday of summer after the war ended. She enjoyed sailing on Long Island Sound. She and Bob enjoyed traveling, having been on numerous cruises and trips. They enjoyed visiting Paris, Spain, Portugal and many other places. She also enjoyed the mountains, especially those in Pennsylvania. Vi was a lover of animals and a passionate defender of animal rights. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in New Bern. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Ernest King, of Morehead City. Her parents preceded her in death. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
