Vincent Rizzi

Obituary Vincent Angelo Rizzi, 94, of Morehead City, died Monday, October 17, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, at St. Egbert Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. The committal will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. He was born in Patchogue, NY to Rocco Luigi Rizzi and Anna Maria Pecararo Rizzi. He worked for Grumman Aerospace where in 1945 he started building the Hellcat and when he retired in 1977 he was working on F-14s. He was a member of St. Egbert Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and was known as the dancer at family functions. He is survived by his daughter, Maryanne Castagna of Morehead City; sons, Vincent L. Rizzi of Newport and Robert Rizzi of Patchogue, NY; grandchildren, Melissa Carrillo, Philip Walker, Joseph Walker, Marriah Rizzi, and Blake Rizzi; great-grandchildren, Abigail Jijon, Anthony Jijon, Ashley Jijon, Aleah Jijon, Matthew Walker, Zoey Walker, Aiden Walker, Michael Kirk, Jr. and Noah Kirk. In addition to his parents, his wife, Greta Shirley Rizzi; and siblings, Vitro Rizzi, Rocco Rizzi and Grace Singler, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 4:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 3:30 p.m. and from 6:00 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Disease Research Center, Duke Medical Center, 2200 W.
