Vernon Childress

Obituary Vernon William Childress, 82, of Peletier, died Friday, July 13, 2018 at Carteret Health Care, Morehead City. No service is scheduled. Vern was born March 3, 1936, in West Des Moines, Iowa to Raymond and LaVera McCroskey Childress. He spent more than 30 years with U. S. Steel as a computer engineer and project manager. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Childress; children, Ellen Childress and Scott Childress; and two grandchildren, Michael Daiha and Janie Daiha. In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Childress.
