Timothy Meeker

Obituary Timothy Eugene Meeker, 68 of Trent Woods, North Carolina formerly of West Portsmouth died Thursday December 18, 2014 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina. He was born April 30, 1946 in Portsmouth to the late Norman Eugene and Dorothy Jean Martin Meeker. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a retired lineman for American Electric Power Company for 32 years. Former resident of Columbus Grove, Ohio and West Portsmouth, he was an avid motorcycle rider having ridden in all 48 contiguous states and over 250,000 miles in a ten year period. He was previously an active member of the Nauvoo United Methodist Church, and also a member of the Long Standing Member of Goldwing Riders Association (GWRA). He was devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Tim is survived by his wife whom he married August 13, 1971 Sandra Kay Brown Meeker, a son Aaron Eugene (Stephanie) Meeker, 2 daughters; Kendra Jean (Kevin) Bragg and Tara Kay Meeker. 2 brothers; Paul D (Judy) Meeker, and Thomas A (Angie) Meeker, 6 Grandchildren; Tyler Hopkins, Emily Meeker, Samantha Meeker, Joseph Meeker, Kassidy Bragg, Korrine Bragg. Extended family and many special friends who were like family. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday December 23, 2014 at the Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House, or the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
