Obituary Tia Whitney, 37, of Swansboro, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at home. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday February 27, 2023, at Spring Garden Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at the church. Tia Evonne Whitney was born December 14, 1985, at Carteret General Hospital to Donald Whitney and Marilyn Henderson. She was raised in the Swansboro area and graduated from Swansboro High School. Tia had a sweet and kind soul that you couldnt help but love. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Earlean Henderson; grandfather, Leo Whitney; and 4 uncles: Milton Whitney, Clifton Whitney, Curtis Whitney and Horace Henderson, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her mother, Marilyn Henderson; father, Donald Whitney; grandmother, Edna Whitney; grandfather, Horace Henderson (Linda); sister, Latoya Whitney; niece, Ariyanah; nephew, Antwan Pearson; her best friend, Lisa; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will miss her deeply. There is not a person who didnt like her and there will never be another like her. With all the great times we had with her she will always be in our hearts and will never ever be forgotten.
