Thomas Vickroy

Obituary Thomas Bell Vickroy, 76, of Newport, died Sunday, May 17, 2015, at home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Bartholomew officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen Westlake Cemetery, Westlake OH, at a later date. Mr. Vickroy was born in Johnstown, PA, to George, and Joanne Vickroy. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the early 1960s. He retired as a manager with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Vickroy was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and very proud to be a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Ida Chapman Vickroy, of Newport; two sons, Duane Vickroy of Tacoma, WA, Thomas Vickroy, and wife, Stacy, of Bayville, OH; one daughter, Candace Dawn Hurley, and husband, Jeff, of Lakewood, OH; four grandchildren, Lucas, Nicholas, Alexander, and Elise; one brother, Jonathan Vickroy of Newport. In addition to his parents, his first wife, Gerlinde I. Vickroy, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
