Obituary Thomas Paul Messier, 78, of Morehead City died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at CarolinaEast Medical Center, New Bern, NC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Caleb J. Lee officiating. He was born in Fort Edward, NY on February 29, 1936 to Alfred A. and Mary Louise Pouliotte Messier. He graduated from Oklahoma City University with a BA in Mathematics and Stanford University with a MS in Industrial Engineering. He was employed by the FAA for 34 years, was an instructor at the FAA Academy for 5 years and retired as FAA head of Research and Development. He additionally served as FAA Director of International Aviation. Mr. Messier was also the BAE Systems Vice President of FAA Programs for 5 years. He participated in the English as a Second Language Program with Carteret Literacy Council. He is survived by his wife, Claire A. Wyatt; daughter, Kirsten Messier and husband, Nicholas Finocchio, of Prospect, TN; son, Marcus Messier and wife, Jill, of Manassas, VA; sister, Lois Plude of Lusby, MD; grandchildren, Kylie Messier, William Paul Messier, Luca Messier, Vincenzo Messier, Sophia Messier. In addition to his parents, his daughter, Lynanne Messier, and brother, Donald Messier, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
