Thomas 'Joey' Sparks

Obituary Thomas Joseph "Joey" Sparks, Jr., 59, of Beaufort, died June 25, 2017, at Tower Nursing/Rehab Center of Raleigh, where he was recovering from numerous strokes. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Willis Family Cemetery in Smyrna. Joey was born on May 17, 1958, in Sea Level, to Thomas J. and Hazel Lynch Sparks. He graduated from East Carteret High School. He worked most of his life as a commercial fisherman, a job he loved. Joey loved anything to do with the water. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping and hunting. He was an excellent marksman. He loved fast cars and motorcycles. He loved his good friends. He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Nicole Sparks of Atlantic, son, Joshua Thomas Sparks, and his wife, Olivia, of Davis; two sisters, Donna L. Bennett, of Knightdale, Kathleen S. Little, and her husband, Bobby, of Raleigh; one brother, Michael L. Sparks, and his wife, Susan, of N. Cape May, NJ, and one grandson, Landen Hunter Davis; nieces, Joalea Swanger, Veronica Walsh, Brittany Sparks, and Madeline Little; several well-beloved great nieces and one great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends on Thursday, one hour prior the funeral at the funeral home.
