Thomas Alese

September 21, 1942 — February 6, 2018

Obituary Thomas "Tom" Joseph Alese, 75, of Newport, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, February 12, 2018 at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. E. Powell Osteen, Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Morehead City, officiating. Mr. Alese was born in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Conchetta Alese. He had a great love of cars and called himself a "Motor Head." Tom owned and operated his own auto repair business. His greatest pride was his ability as crew chief for a drag racing team. Their most famous car was the "Andy Panda." All through his life Thomas collected antiques, particularly early American clocks. He and Audrey traveled all over to auctions, art shows and Antique Fairs. Tom loved to travel. He had a booming voice and enthusiasm for life that impressed all who met him. An important part of Toms life was his concern and care for others. He often gave generously to others in need and to charitable and public causes. He was quiet about the help he offered but he was the first one to reach out a hand to help. His wife Audrey offers this quote from Matthew that best describes Tom: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took me in, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you visited meTruly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Tom was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Morehead City. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Alese, of Newport; a son, Robert Alese and wife Darlene of Long Island, NY; two daughters, Lori Fritzen and husband Donald, of Long Island, NY, and Denise Inserra and husband Jamie of Henderson, NV; 5 grandchildren, James and wife Prism, Cristi Alese, Jessica Alese , Joseph Alese and fiance Megan, and Robert Bruno III; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ava, James and Blake. Tom was well loved by a great number of friends too numerous to mention. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home, 10:00 am Monday, February 12, 2018. In addition to his parents, his brother, Robert Thomas Alese, precedes him in death. In lieu of flowers donations to the First United Methodist Church, 900 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or to the American Civil Liberties Union, 125 Broad Street, 18th floor, New York, NY, 10004.
