Theresa Sanderson

Theresa Sanderson, 85, of Beaufort, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport.

A devoted member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Beaufort for over 60 years, Theresa dedicated much of her life to her faith and community. She served as a Sunday School teacher for more than six decades, touching countless lives with her guidance and unwavering commitment.

Theresa also worked at the Sanitary Fish Market and Restaurant in Morehead City for over 50 years. Her long-standing presence there reflected her strong work ethic and deep ties to the local community.

Her legacy of service, faith, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those whose lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Beaufort with Pastor, Richard Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 on Thursday at the church.

She is survived by her three children, Debra Baker and husband, Glenn of Havelock; Michael Sanderson and wife, Jenny of Wilmington; Ina Marie Sanderson and partner, Jennifer Carter of Newport; grandchildren, TJ Meyers and wife, Cindy of Wilmington; Amy Meyers of Wilmington; Michael Sanderson Jr. and husband, David of Wilmington; Dylan Sanderson and wife, Jen of Leland; Hailey Sprenkle and husband, Clayton of Killeen, TX; Chris Carter and wife, Becca of Newport; great grandchildren: Christopher, Abbey, Isabella, Elijah, James, Rory, Kieran, Ayla, Amelia, and Olivia; two sisters, Mildred Crisman of Long View, TX; Maria Pili Sanderson of Beaufort; and many more nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Lena Adaway; husband, Elisha W. Sanderson; sister, Bea Adaway; brother, John Adaway; nephew, Wilbert Adaway.
