Thelma Hancock

Obituary Thelma H. Hancock, 90, of Atlantic, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mrs. Hancock was born in Rowan County to Frank and Myrtle Harris. She was employed at Taylor Extended Care as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She lived in Hickory, NC for over 50 years and was a charter member of Viewmont Baptist Church. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Atlantic United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. George Gouge, presiding. The interment will follow at Over The Brook Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Hall Yount, and husband, Michael, of Washington; a son, Don B. Hall, and wife, Judy, of Wilmington; a stepson, Mervin North Hancock, Jr., and wife, Libby, of Greenville; grandchild, Amy Yount Adams, and husband, Tony of Boone, NC; Great-grandchildren, Macon and Hazel Adams. In addition to her parents, her husband, Mervin N. Hancock, Sr., preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
