Obituary Terry Edmund Nance, 80, of Beaufort, died Friday, October 6, 2017, at Craven Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 12:00 noon at First Free Will Baptist Church, Beaufort, with the Pastor, Rev. Richard Patterson, officiating. Interment will follow the service at Carteret Memorial Gardens. Mr. Nance was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, August 25, 1937, to Alvah and Effie Willis Nance. He served 10 years in the United States Coast Guard, and worked in maintenance with Carteret Craven EMC until his retirement. He built model wooden skiffs and gave them to many of his friends and businesses in the area. He enjoyed helping people and never met a stranger. He loved telling stories, especially of days gone by. He was a long standing faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, Beaufort. He was always a "Secret Santa" to someone. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Carol Mitchell, and her husband, Graham, of Havelock, and Wendy Leigh Williams, and her husband Daniel, of Beaufort; his grandchildren, Terry Wade and Amy Allred, and her husband, Ryan, and 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Wyatt. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM to service time on Wednesday. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nance is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Virginia Robinson Nance, and a brother, Frank Nance. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church, 1947 US Hwy 70, Beaufort, NC 28516, or to a charity of ones choice.
