Silke Ursula Diaz, 52, of Morehead City, NC

Following an unexpected medical emergency, and surrounded by her family, Silke began her final journey to her heavenly home on February 13, 2024.

Originally from Karlsruhe, Germany, Silke moved to Carteret County in 1995 and quickly made it her home, building a lifetime of friendships through her outgoing personality and endless support of her community.

Silke worked as a licensed massage therapist at Pure Indulgence Organic Day Spa in Morehead City. She was also an avid knitter and extended her creativity to making specialty jewelry. She loved spending time in nature and traveling both locally and internationally with her family. Lake Lure and the North Carolina mountains held a special place in her heart.

When she wasn’t working or globetrotting, Silke shared her talents as a clarinetist with the Sunshine Band, Carteret Community Theater, and multiple East Carteret High School musical productions including Brigadoon (2012), Seussical (2013), Rhythm City (2014), Shrek (2015), The Little Mermaid (2017), Mary Poppins (2018), and Annie (2023). She also volunteered as a scoreboard operator for the East Carteret Soccer program and supported the East Carteret Marching Mariners band.

Silke was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband Antonio Diaz of Morehead City; her son Lukas Weygoldt of Beaufort; her daughter Jadranka Weygoldt and son-in-law Duane Pollock of Boone; parents Rainer and Sabine John of Karlsruhe, Germany; brother Dirk John, sister-in-law Suse Weber, and niece Annika John of Homburg, Germany; sister Elke Eiwen, brother-in-law Guido Eiwen, and nephews Phillip and Jasper Eiwen of Karlsruhe, Germany.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Harlowe United Methodist Church (4261 NC Hwy 101, Newport, NC 28570) on Saturday, March 2nd at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Silke’s memory can be made to East Carteret High School (3263 US-70 East, Beaufort, NC 28516) and will be distributed evenly between the soccer and band programs."
