Sheldon Andrè Faison, fondly known as Sheldon to his friends and family, passed away on July 21, 2024, in his hometown of Morehead City, North Carolina. Born on July 15, 1985, Sheldon lived a life full of love, passion, and intelligence, touching the lives of everyone he encountered.
Sheldon spent his early years in the coastal city where he was born and raised. Known for his keen intellect and entrepreneurial spirit, he earned Roofing and Contracting Certifications and a Small-Business Certification, which empowered him to become the proud owner and operator of Anything Under The Sun Roofing. Through his work, he not only provided shelter to many but also built a reputation of trust and excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sheldon was a man of many interests. His voice could light up any room during karaoke nights, and his love for literature was evident in the countless hours he spent reading. A strategic thinker, Sheldon enjoyed challenging his mind with games of chess and backgammon, as well as engaging in the competitive spirit of playing cards, especially spades. His athleticism shone through in his participation in basketball, soccer, and golf, where he not only played but also fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship.
In his personal life, Sheldon was a beacon of love and joy. He is survived by his devoted mother, Glenda Bryant Roy of the home; his sister, Melodie Reels of the home; his brother, Russell Pointe of Buffalo, NY; his nephew, Michael Adams; and his niece, Ru'Dasha Pointe. His aunts Brenda (Sylvester) Johnson, Beaufort, NC Sharon (James/Zoom) Johnson, Jacksonville, FL, and Mary Elizabeth Faison, Buffalo, NY; his uncles Ronald Bryant, Morehead City, NC, Ammie (Vergie) Faison, and Loy (Bridget) Faison, both of Jacksonville, NC; and cousins Celena Faison, Sylvester Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Jaclyn (Robert) Johnson, and James Johnson Jr., will forever cherish the memories they made with Sheldon. His extended family, including great-uncles Samuel (Catherine) Gibson, Bogue, NC, Willie Brown, Arlington, TX, and George (Pam) Fuller, Charlotte, NC and great-aunts Myrna Jacobs, Chester, PA, and Gladys Hill, Jacksonville, NC along with a multitude of other relatives and friends, will continue to hold Sheldon in their hearts.
Sheldon was preceded in death by his father, Steve Faison; stepfather, Daniel Roy; his grandmother, Josephine Bryant; his uncle, Michael Bryant and Uthman El Marteen (Larry Faison); and his aunt, Christine Faison. They have now welcomed him with open arms in a place where he is free from the trials of the world.
As we remember Sheldon, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Sheldon's love and his passionate approach to life have indeed become a part of all who knew him.
Sheldon's journey with Multiple Sclerosis was marked by courage and resilience. Despite the challenges he faced, his spirit remained unbreakable, and his positive outlook on life never wavered. He approached each day with a sense of hope and a belief in the goodness of people.
To say Sheldon was loving, passionate, and intelligent merely scratches the surface of the remarkable individual he was. His infectious smile, his hearty laughter, and his unwavering kindness will be dearly missed. As we bid farewell to Sheldon Andre Faison, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he enriched and the love he shared so freely.
May Sheldon rest in eternal peace, his memory a guiding light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we reflect on his life, we are grateful for the time we had with Sheldon and the indelible mark he has left on our world.
