Mr. Hoag was born in Delhi, NY to William Harvey Hoag and Olive Easson Hoag. Hoagie was raised in Delancey NY. He was trained to be a Master Carpenter by his Grandfather Harvey and he took great pride in his work. Russell married Adelaide (Adde) Wheelock in 1968 and raised his family on Emmons Hill Road in Oneonta NY. Always tenderhearted, he cherished his family and friends above all else. His ability to see the detail in a single moment was always one of his greatest gifts. Russ loved to tell a good story and never met a country road he did not like to travel. He appreciated a friendly wager and was always honest to his word. Russ spent his later years watching his grandchildren grow and enjoyed having company in Cape Carteret NC. He loved being the captain while taking all of his daughters, son in laws and granddaughters friends out on his boat the "Rusty Nail". Up until his death everyone commented on his beautiful blue eyes. He will be forever missed. He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Nelson and husband Michael of Angier; one sister, Margaret Doenges of Edmeston, NY; three grandchildren, Gavin, Lindsey and Owen Nelson of Angier and a niece Amanda Beigh of West Winfield, NY. In addition to his parents, his wife Adelaide "Adde" Dawn Hoag preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crystal Coast Hospice House, P.O. Box 640, Newport, NC 28570.
