Obituary Russell Edward Chaney, 27, of Jacksonville, formerly of Newport, died Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at VFW Post 7315, 120 Lynnwayne Circle, Havelock, with the Rev. L. Everett Thomas presiding. Burial will be private. Russell was born October 8, 1988 in Morehead City to Wendy Edwards (Chaney) Doubles. He is a graduate of West Carteret High School class of 2006 were he was highly active in the West Carteret Band as a tuba player. He is survived by his mother, Wendy Anne Doubles and her husband Allen; a sister, Kathryn Anne Chaney of Newport; Divinely-sent sisters, Monte Lindsey Boomgaarn of CA, Kari Lynn Handy of Newport and Meghan Moisan of FL; uncles, David Edwards of Beaufort and Roger Edwards of New London, CT; cousins, Anna Edwards Buffaloe of Newport, Matthew Allen Edwards of CT, and Tristan Allen Edwards of Waynesville and a myriad of other wonderful wacky family. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilton "Ed" Edwards and Brenda "Joy" Rowe Edwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OBX Pride or to NC Equality Foundation, P.O.
