Obituary Rubye Evelyn Prentiss Davis, 100, of Morehead City, formerly of Booneville, MS, died Monday, June 1, 2015, at Carteret General Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at McMillan's Funeral Home, 702 West College Street, Booneville, MS. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. She was born July 22, 1914 in Booneville, MS to Jeff and Dora Green Prentiss. She was a graduate of Jumpertown School in Prentiss County, MS and earned a Bachelor's degree in education from Mississippi State University. She returned to Jumpertown School where she was a teacher for 35 years. Being very artistic, she loved music, poetry, and quilting. Mrs. Davis was very active in her community and was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church, Booneville, MS. She is survived be her daughter, Barbara Gayle Capps Wallace of Beaufort. Her husband, Murray A. Davis, six sisters, and six brothers preceded her in death.
