Roy Henderson

Obituary Roy Edward Henderson, 97, of Morehead City, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Cherry Point Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Havelock. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 12:00pm at Ambassadors of Christ Fellowship in Havelock, 102 Brown Blvd. Pastor Ulysses Dixon to Officiate. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Morehead City with Military Honors. Roy served in the United States Navy from 1940-1946 making him a proud WWII Veteran. During his military career, he spent time in Hawaii, on the USS Tennessee, as well as the Henry T. Allen, stationed in San Francisco. He later transferred to NYC (96th Street) where he was assigned to the ship Dorothea L. Dix and made two trips to England and two trips to Scotland on the Dorothea L. Dix. In addition, he made four trips to the Mediterranean and one trip to Oran, North Africa; three trips to Naples, Italy; and then to Angio (now Torrino). Then he headed back to the United States, only to return to Normandy. In March 1978, Roy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was involved in many things, and was a Deacon at his church, Ambassadors for Christ. Roy was also a longtime member of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship in Morehead City. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley B. Henderson; Cousin, Leroy Malachi; Sister Elner Mae Davis, of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Lucy Henderson; Brothers, Wilbert and Clyde Henderson; and sister Julia Henderson.
