Obituary Ronald L. Rouse, 74, of Newport died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at his home after a long illness, surrounded by his family. A memorial service with military honors, will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, 11, 2016, at the Broad Creek United Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Ben Ball officiating Mr. Rouse was born August 4, 1942, in Auburn, NY, to Robert and Elma Wild. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked as an industrial engineer at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point until his retirement in 2004. During his tenure he volunteered to serve in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He is survived by his wife Almeda Rouse; one daughter, Renee Griffin and husband Rusty, of Newport; three sons, Rob Allen Griffin of Newport, Donald Rouse of Houston, TX, and Preston Rouse of Houston, TX; two sisters, Susan Caruana and husband Ronald, of Palm Harbor, FL, and Deborah MacDonald and husband William of Auburn, NY; two brothers, Thomas Wild of Venice, FL, and David Wild and wife Kathleen of Auburn, NY; four grandchildren, Brandon Griffin of Newport, Johnathan Rouse and wife Kristin, of Newport, Mary Jenkins of Newport and Derek Jenkins of Morehead City; four great-grandchildren, Mika, Mia, Julia and Kyle. He is also survived by his best friends and fur babies; Pepper, Heidi, Kallie and Pip. In addition to his parents, a son, Anthony Simmons, a brother Robert Wild, Jr., and a sister Kathleen Corcoran, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the church a half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Broad Creek United Methodist Church, 562 Broad Creek Loop Road, Newport, NC 28570 or to the charity of ones choice.
