Ronald Davis

September 6, 1953 — March 16, 2024

Ronald Lee Davis, 70, of Newport, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his Barn in Newport.

Ron honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for three years, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his service, he dedicated 34 years as a skilled carpenter for the civil service at Cherry Point. His hands were rarely still, as he was always found building or fixing something, leaving a legacy of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

A man of many talents, Ron was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Newport. There, he found a community of friends and a place to share his love for service and fellowship.  Ron's creativity was not limited to his carpentry. He could build anything he set his mind to, from intricate tile work to the serene pond and a second home “The Barn” on the property he so lovingly cleared and maintained. His home was a testament to his handiwork and his ability to envision and bring to life the beauty of his surroundings.

Music was another of Ron's passions. He was a talented musician and a member of the band White Horse, where he shared his love for melody and rhythm. Whether he was playing in local venues or simply jamming with friends, his music brought joy to those around him and was a source of great pride for Ron.

An avid golfer, Ron could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game and the company of fellow golf enthusiasts. He relished the challenge of each course and the peacefulness of the sport. Additionally, Ron was a fan of UFC fighting, enthusiastically following the matches and admiring the skill and dedication of the fighters.

Ron was a man best described as handy and creative, a person who could visualize possibilities where others saw none. His ability to transform the mundane into the extraordinary was a gift that he shared generously, enriching the lives of those who knew him.

Ron's legacy is one of passion, creativity, and a deep love for his community. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many lives he touched with his kindness and the beauty he created with his hands. Ron Davis was a man who built more than structures; he built a life full of meaning, connection, and joy.
