Robert Shaw

January 10, 1925 — March 6, 2014

Obituary Robert Alan Shaw, 89, of Morehead City, passed peacefully at home, Thursday, March 6, 2014. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, at Bayview Cemetery, Morehead City, with The Rev. John Grayson and Rev. Paul Lutz, long-time friend, officiating. Mr. Shaw was born January 10, 1925 in Wanamassa, NJ, to Alexander Hamilton Shaw and Barbara de La Vergne Shaw. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Bob was honored to have an accomplished 25 year career with The Prudential Life Insurance Company of America where he held several positions including Vice President of Sales, South Central Region, U.S. & Puerto Rico. Bob was charismatic and gifted with wit and story-telling that brought smiles and laughter to all who knew him. Although his passion was productivity, in his free time he enjoyed dancing, playing golf and bridge, fossil hunting on the beach, working on home projects, Bible study, researching law and justice and eating delicious food. He especially loved his boat, Trumpy 50. In his later years Bob focused his days on personal missions as though he were running a corporation. He touched many people who will hold his character near and dear for the rest of their lives. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sarita Oglesby Shaw, of Morehead City; daughters, Catherine Shaw Watkiss and husband, Dale, of Jacksonville, FL and Elizabeth Shaw Duff and husband, Steve, of Jacksonville, FL and sister Diane Freiwald of Leesburg, FL.
