Obituary Robert Elvis Melton, 87, of Beaufort died Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Carteret Health Care A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, November 7, at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. Mr. Melton was born in Rutherford County, NC to Robert Edward Melton and Lola Mae Bailey Melton. He served in the United States Army. He was a loving father. He is survived by his daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Avant and husband Steven of Sneads Ferry; sons, Robert E. Melton, Jr. of Beaufort and Dale A. Melton and wife Barbara of Morehead City; sisters, Honoree Stephens of Raleigh, Pat Thomas of Raleigh and Jean Murphy of Fredericksburg, VA; brothers, Billy Franklin Melton of Beaufort and Alton Melton of Raleigh; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his step-mother, Oma Lee Bailey Melton; daughter, April Melton Kemp; and wife, Effie Jean Williams, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 7, from 8:30 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina, P.
