Obituary Biography Robert Allen Griffin Sr, age 72 of Morehead City, died June 2, 2018 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 276 Wildwood Road, Newport, NC. Mr. Griffin was born at home in Carteret County to his parents, Jesse and Belma Garner Griffin. He married Bertha Faye Goodwin on March 30, 1974. They recently celebrated 44 years of marriage and attended Wildwood Presbyterian Church. He worked in management as a civil servant at Cherry Point until his retirement in 2006. Mr. Griffin was a devoted family man who cherished his wife and children, but his world revolved around the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved them immensely and was their number 1 fan. "Super G" as he was often referred to, was a sports enthusiast. He attended every sporting event, school function, birthday celebration or other activity to show his support for his family. To the astonishment of many, "Super G" even played softball with his oldest son, David and his friends in the early 1990s. His wife, Bertha Faye Goodwin Griffin; his children, Jackie Jarrett and her love, David Grandy, David Perry and his wife Julie, Michael Perry and his wife Ashley, Steven Griffin and his wife Jennifer, Robert Allen Griffin Jr and Renee Griffin all of Carteret County; his sister, Ruth Moseley; his brothers, Dick, Billy and Joe Griffin; his grandchildren, Toni, Gregory, Kalen, Ryan, Kiley, Anderson, Bennett and Brandon; his four great-grandchildren, twins, Jordan and Junuh, Alyssa and Maddox; and a special "adopted daughter" that went above and beyond, Darlene Ipock. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Katherine Hall and brothers, Doug and Roy Griffin and David Garner. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 276 Wildwood Road, Newport 28557 or the Croatan Athletic Booster Club, #1 Cougar Lane, Newport, 28570.
