Robert 'Bob' King

Obituary Robert Ernest "Bob" King, 92, of Morehead City, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Carteret Health Care. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1605 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, NC, with the pastor, Dr. Ted Rust, officiating. Inurnment, with military honors, will follow the service in the church columbarium. Mr. King was born January 1, 1924, in Brooklyn NY to Ernest and Helen Rossman King. He graduated high school in Brooklyn, served his country in the U S Navy and graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy. It was during WWII that Bob met Violet Francis, whom he corresponded with, and near the end of the war, became engaged to, and married the first Sunday of summer after the war ended. Bob and Vi enjoyed sailing on Long Island Sound. They enjoyed visiting Paris, Spain, Portugal and many other places. They enjoyed the mountains of Pennsylvania. They both were lovers of all animals and were passionate defenders of animal rights. Bob was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in New Bern. There are no immediate survivors. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of more than 65 years, Violet King.
