Obituary Richard Harry Wetterhorn, Age 84, resident of Beaufort, NC, and previous long-time resident of Fairfield, CT passed away June 3, 2015, after a long illness. Richard was born on October 4, 1930, in Malmo, Sweden, to Harry and Margareta Wetterhorn. He graduated with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, and moved to the United States in 1964 upon obtaining a position with Dresser Industries, Stratford, CT. Richard was an accomplished design engineer and was credited for at least 13 patents related to pressure gauges. He received an International Dresser Industries gold medal for a special pressure gauge that bears his name to this day and is credited for being a positive turning point for the company. Richard had a great love of nature, and a tender heart for creatures great and small. His involvement with a Swedish ski club in Vermont led to the purchase of his beloved snow farm where he spent many weekends and holidays chopping wood and skiing with his boys in the mountains of Vermont. More recently, Richard loved to putter in his yard on the coast of North Carolina, observing wildlife with his devoted companion of 20 years, Betty Jacobs, and his precious dog, Happy. He is survived by his sister Inger Wetterhorn; the mother of his children, Lilly Wetterhorn; son, Raul Wetterhorn, daughter-in-law Inger Johansson, (Sweden); son, Markus Wetterhorn, daughter-in-law Lynn Wetterhorn (Maine), grandchildren, Kristina, Erik, Karl and Anna Wetterhorn; and nieces and nephews in Sweden and the United States, as well as Richards partner, Betty Jacobs. Additional siblings, Gunhild Tibbetts and Evy Skantz are deceased.
