Richard Shaw

Obituary Biography Richard Wayne Shaw, a true child of God. Richard a son, brother, Special Olympian and Gentleman, went home to be with his Lord on May 4, 2018 at Harborview Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Richard was born March 10, 1961 in Daytona Beach FL to Don and Dorothy Shaw. He was raised in Kissimmee, FL and lived for the past 22 years in Morehead City. Richard had many challenges but was able to graduate from high school, attend classes through the Station Club and work in several area businesses. He participated in Special Olympics Track & Field and bocci, but his real love was bowling. Richard won numerous medals through the years, loved the Dallas Cowboys, and was a fan of Chuck Norris. Richard also attended Camp Trinity summer camp for the last 20 years. Richard attended St. Peters United Methodist Church where he was an usher, member of the mens group and recognized as "Man of the Year" and recipient of the "Patriots Award", always leading the Pledge of Allegiance at each meeting. Richard was known for his good manners, kindness, special hugs and never ending smiles! Predeceased by both of his parents, he leaves his sister, Gloria Campbell, friend Phil Nelson, niece Susan (Omps) Pugh and Charlie of CA; nephews Jeffrey Omps and Carissa of AZ, and Steve Campbell and Angela of Durham; 3 great nephews and 5 great nieces. He will be missed by all his special friends from the Station Club and his special mentors, Heidi, Ann, and Tom. A memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Saint Peters United Methodist Church with Rev. Karl Zorowski officiating.
