Obituary Richard (Dick) Gregory Page, III, 80, of Morehead City, NC, died Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Carteret Health Care. The family will host a gathering of friends at Brooks Funeral Home on May 16, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. He was born November 15, 1938, the eldest of three children of Barbara Shaw Page and Richard G. Page, Jr. of Plainfield, NJ. The Page family moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1946 where Richard graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1956. Richard then graduated with an AB in History from Duke University in 1960. He entered the US Navy in 1960 and served for 2 years while earning the rank of Ensign. Dick was a communications officer and was able to spend service time in Antarctica and New Zealand. In 1963 he married Sallie Pickard (Page) and had 2 daughters. He retired from RJR Tobacco after 28 years, was the Director of Operations at the Physical Plant of Wake Forest University, but his favorite job was director of Morehead City CCATS, from which he retired in 2008. For many years he volunteered at several local organizations including Fort Macon, the Maritime Museum, Pine Knoll Shores Fire Department, and the History Place. Richard was an audiophile of classical music and opera, enjoyed discussions about current events, and always had a special connection to the coast. He is survived by his beloved companion of greater than 20 years, Michael A Spence; daughters Sara (Page) Krome, and Marjorie (Page) Transou (Kevin), George Lee-McDonnell; siblings David Page and Barbara Page, and grandchildren Harrison Krome and Rachel Krome. His parents and wife precede him in death. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Maritime Museum, 315 Front Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.
