Reginald Adams, Sr

Obituary Reginald W. Adams, Sr., 89, of Beaufort, N.C. passed away early Friday morning, October 23, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C. following a brief illness. He was born in North Harlow, N.C., to Marvin Claus Adams and Jessie Bell Taylor Adams. He was predeceased by his parents along with his wife, Anne, and siblings J.C. Adams and Iris Taylor. Upon graduation from high school Reg enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in WWII in the European theater. He was honorably discharged in August 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Reg married his lifes love, Anne in October 1946. There were many facets to his lifes work, from civil service after leaving the service, to that of an insurance agent, working at Huntleys in Beaufort, for Connor Industries, and his own small home repair business. His last job was with Ace Hardware in Beaufort, where he worked a few hours a week until the beginning of October. Reg was a devoted member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Beaufort since 1950 and served on its vestry. He is survived by his daughters, Penny Bennink and her husband Phil, and Vicky Poplin and her husband Jack, his son, Reggie Adams, Jr. and his wife, Alice, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His service will be held at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Beaufort at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27th, with the Rev. John Carlisto officiating. Graveside service will follow in Carteret Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 10:45 a.m. in the churchs parish hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 215 Ann Street, Beaufort, NC 28516 or a charity of ones choice.
