She was a faithful member for 59 years. Over a period of 25 years, she served in the church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and member of the womens auxiliary. She loved her savior, Jesus Christ, and was unashamed to publicly praise His name. She faithfully served Him and taught her children and grandchildren to love and serve Him. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a dedicated homemaker and put her family above that of her own needs. She had a loving and caring heart and never met a stranger. She opened her home to all and served many delicious meals and was well known for her pecan pies and hot yeast rolls. She had a loving and caring heart and treasured times with her family, friends, and church. Reba attended school in Morehead City. As a young woman, she moved to Hampton Roads, VA and worked in the VA Hospital. Upon returning, she married the love of her life, Cyrus Hunter, and they made their home in Beaufort. She was also a talented seamstress and worked for a total of 36 years at the Morehead City Garment Company and Blue Bell Shirt Factory. She leaves behind, three daughters, Sharon Lester and husband Don, of Newport, Vickie Race and husband Bill, of Newport and Crystal Wasley of Gloucester; six grandchildren and eleven great-grand children, and her loving canine companion, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Cyrus Hunter, infant daughter, Linda Darnell Hunter, son, Fredrick Mitchell Hunter, son-in-law, James Thomas Wasley, Jr., great-grandchild, Cyrous Hollister and five premature grandchildren. The family will receive friends and family at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be immediately following the service at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City. The family would like to thank all the staff of the third floor at Carteret Health Care for their loving care for our mother and their caring spirit for the family. Mother had great nursing care and loved each of you. We would also like to thank her doctors, Dr. Mary Lawrence and Dr. CV. Mother always had a smile for everyone, but especially for Dr. CV. She always gave him a huge hug when she saw him and before he left her side. She loved you, Dr. CV, and the family thanks you for loving her as well.
