Obituary Raymond T. Bogert, 87, of Pine Knoll Shores, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Carteret General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at St. Egbert Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. Raymond was born in Manhattan, NY to Albert and Julia Bogert on August 11, 1926. A World War II veteran, he enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served two tours of duty. After discharge, Raymond graduated from Iona College. He completed post-graduate studies at Holy Cross, the American Institute of Banking, and Rutgers University. Raymonds banking career began in Manhattan, NY, working for David Rockefeller and culminated as the President of Citizens National Bank in Connecticut. Raymond retired and moved to Pine Knoll Shores with his wife, Mary, in 1995. He was active with the Town Planning Board, SCORE, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He also served as treasurer of his Property Owners Association and the Finance Committee at St. Egbert Church. Raymond is survived by his sons, Robert, of Milford, Connecticut, Gregory of London, England John of Culpepper, Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his daughter, Susan, wife, Mary, and four siblings. A visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Brooks Funeral Home with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570. The family would like to thank the staff of Carteret General Hospital and Crystal Bluff Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the love and care they extended to Raymond.
