Obituary Randolph Richard "Randy" Russell, 55, of Uvita, Costa Rica, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Hospital Clinica Biblica in San Jose, Costa Rica. Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Jacksonville, NC. Randy was born December 14,1958 in San Diego, CA., to Richard Samuel and Miriam Horsmon Russell. He graduated from Jacksonville High School, Class of '76, and moved to Carolina Beach, where he owned his home improvement business. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Costa Rica to further his missionary work. They were quickly received by the locals as he began to re-build homes and churches for them. Randy was known for always putting the needs of these people in front of his own. He is survived by his wife, Julie Rader Russell of Uvita, Costa Rica; children, Crystalinn Mendez, and her husband, Henry, of Winston Salem, Jade, and her husband, Ricky Merrits of Wilmington, and Daniel Russell, of Carolina Beach; mother, Mary H. Russell and a sister, Valerie Linnae Russell, both of Jacksonville, NC; and 2 grandchildren. His father preceded him in death.
