Obituary Rachel Chadwick Goodwin, 70, of Cedar Island, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. Rachel was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Original Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing softball, but found that she loved watching her kids and grandkids play ball more. She was known throughout Eastern Carteret county for baking wedding and birthday cakes, her famous light rolls, clamming, and cooking. You never left mom-mas house hungry. Above all else, she loved her family and taking care of them, but being mom-ma to her grandkids was her greatest joy. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Cedar Island Community Cemetery with Rev. Merle Hunt officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, guests are asked to wear masks. For those who cannot attend, the service will be live streamed on the Noe-Brooks Funeral Home Facebook page. Rachel is survived by husband of 54 years, James Goodwin of the home; sons, Jeffrey Goodwin of Cedar Island; Steven Goodwin of Havelock; grandsons, Austin Goodwin of Beaufort; Tanner Goodwin of Cedar Island; granddaughters, Brian Goodwin of Beaufort; Katie Goodwin of Cedar Island; sisters, Almeta Willis; Shirley Gillikin both of Harkers Island; Dawn Zimmerman and her husband Don of Beaufort; brothers, Kenny Chadwick and his wife Teresa of Havelock; Dale Chadwick and his wife Teresa of Stacey; Walter Chadwick and his wife Sue of Beaufort; and special niece, Rosalee Cahoon of Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Katie Chadwick; sister Rosa Davis; brothers, Mickey Chadwick; and Dale Chadwick. Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts in Rachels name can be given to Pilgrims Rest Original Freewill Baptist Church or The Cedar Island Community Cemetery Fund.
