Obituary Queenie Elizabeth Gilmore, 79, of Morehead City, went Home to the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Upper Room Church in Havelock. A private burial will be held at George Cemetery in Harlowe prior to the service. Queenie was born on June 23, 1942 to Roy and Annie Mae Teel in Harlowe. The first-born of 11 children, Queenie graduated from Queen Street High School in 1961. She was a drum majorette in the band at Queen Street for five years. After high school, Queenie moved to New York where she met and married Benjamin Gilmore on October 29,1962. In 1973, they moved their family home to Carteret County and she began work at Cherry Point Marine Station in production control. Queenie worked at Cherry Point for 23 years and retired in 1996. Since her retirement, Queenie has been a caregiver to various family members including her mother and her sister, Mary. Queenie was happiest when she was travelling and has traveled abroad several times with her trip to Israel being her favorite. She was a true Matriarch and a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 59 years, Benjamin Gilmore Sr; two children, Selina Gilmore Montford and husband Duane and Benjamin Gilmore Jr.; siblings, Gloria Neusch, Roy Teel Jr., Wallace Teel, Melvin Teel, Ella Teel, and Willie Teel; grandchildren, Marcus Gilmore, Alexcia Jones, Jeremiah Hargrove, and Brikinna Gilmore; great-grandchildren, Jonas Reign Gilmore, Saphyra Reign Montford, Amariah Joelle Gilmore, and Jada Balken; and numerous nieces and nephews. Queenie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ann Morris; and brother, Valerian 'Turk' Teel.
