Peter Scallan

Obituary Peter Paul Patrick Scallan, 82, of Morehead City, died February 14, 2018, at Carteret Health Care. His memorial service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Brooks Funeral Home, with The Rev. George M. Schneider officiating. Peter was born in Chester, PA, on July 5, 1935 to Noah Francis and Marie Thomas Scallan. He served his country proudly for 4 years in the US Air Force, 2 years with the Peace Corps and 18 months with the International Red Cross in Vietnam. His last position was with the Bureau of Rehabilitation of the National Capital Area in Washington, DC, where he spent almost 20 years working with Federal prisoners before retiring on disability. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ellen Scallan; children, Carl Thomas Wimmer of Columbia, KY, Keith Vincent Wimmer of Copper Hill, VA, Roy Allen Wimmer of Crossville, Tenn, and Greta Wimmer Ayers of Dickinson, TX; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Peter is preceded in death by his only sister, Margaret Scallan Beauchamp, and one grandson, Kiernan A. Wimmer. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in Peters name to the Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Road, Newport, NC 28570.
