Penn Flournoy

Obituary Penn Walker Flournoy, age 77, of Morehead City passed away peacefully July 9, 2018 at The Crystal Coast Hospice House. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 14th at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Beaufort. The Rev. Michael Singer will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Morehead City. Penn was born October 10, 1940 in Norfolk, VA to Robert Lee Jr. and Elisabeth Sawyer Walker. She attended Mary Baldwin College from 1958-1960 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama in 1962. Penn married the love of her life, John Eppes Flournoy on June 22, 1963 in Richmond, VA. This was the start of a love affair that would span over fifty five years. Penn was a multifaceted woman. She was a member of Chi Omega, she served on the Altar Guild at St. Marys Church in Kinston before moving to the Crystal Coast 19 years ago when and most recently was a member of St Pauls Episcopal Church. She briefly worked in the banking industry before pursuing her true passion, that of wife, mother and grandmother. She delighted herself in her family and was completely devoted to them. Penn is survived by her husband, Dr. John E. Flournoy; her son, John Scott Flournoy and his wife Jennifer of Richmond, VA; her daughter, Elisabeth Flournoy Hill of Greensboro, NC; her granddaughter, Grayson Walker Hill; and her grandson, Zachary Chase Hill. The family will receive guests on Friday evening, July 13th at Brooks Funeral Home, 201 Professional Circle, Morehead City, NC from 5 pm until 7 pm. Penn was preceded in death by her parents.
