Patricia Ann Bessolo, affectionately known to all as Pat, embarked on her final adventure, leaving us with hearts full of memories on April 7, 2024. Born in the sunny town of Newport News, Virginia, on August 28, 1954, Pat's zest for life was evident from the get-go. She would often say she didn't just walk through life; she boated, fished, and occasionally sashayed, especially if there was a beach nearby.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home.
Pat passed away as she lived, surrounded by the coastal charm of Morehead City, North Carolina, a place she loved almost as much as a good sunset or the latest TV drama. Her laughter was contagious, her spirit unbreakable, and her ability to tell it like it was, well, legendary.
A proud graduate of Coastal Community College, Pat turned her nurturing nature into a profession, becoming the best darn CNA and caregiver one could hope for. Her patients didn't just get medical attention; they got a one-woman show filled with humor, care, and the occasional unsolicited fishing tip.
Pat's family was her pride and joy, her sister Kathy Nevis was her partner in crime, and her shenanigans with her niece and nephews - Timmy Rudder and his wife Helen, Robert Nevis and his wife, Dawn Threat and her husband, and Diane Lovine and her husband - would fill a sitcom series. The episodes would be titled, "How to Embarrass Your Relatives in Public" and "The Art of Sneaking Extra Dessert," both of which Pat had mastered.
Never one to sit still unless she was catching the latest episode of her favorite show, Pat was an avid collector of sea shells, which she swore each held the secret to the perfect key lime pie. Her love for fishing and boating wasn't just a hobby; it was a way of life. She often joked that she was a mermaid in a past life, but the only singing you'd hear from her was off-key renditions of sea shanties.
Walking on the beach was her meditation, and she claimed that every step in the sand was a step towards enlightenment, or at least towards finding the perfect shell for her collection. Traveling with her sister Kathy wasn't just a pastime; it was an epic saga of laughter, mishaps, and memories that could fill a treasure chest.
Pat's sense of humor was her gift to the world, and she delivered punchlines with the precision of a seasoned comedian. She taught us all to find the funny in the mundane and the joy in the everyday. Her legacy is not just in the lives she touched as a caregiver, but in the smiles she left behind.
As the curtain falls on Pat's remarkable life, we bid farewell to a woman who was more than just a family member, a caregiver, and a beach aficionado - she was a force of nature, a bringer of joy, and a collector of moments. Pat's story may have ended, but her one-liners, her laughter, and her indomitable spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
So here's to Patricia Ann Bessolo - Pat - a woman who lived life like a well-crafted joke: with impeccable timing, a twinkle in her eye, and a punchline that left us all wanting more. Sail on, dear Pat, and may the seas be as kind to you as you were to all of us
