Olive Wade

March 9, 1925 — January 19, 2016

Obituary Olive May Bentley Wade, 90, of Newport, NC, formerly of Mechanicsville, VA, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Croatan Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newport, NC. A graveside service, only, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, at Gethsemane Memorial Park, Morehead City, NC. The Rev. E. Powell Osteen, Jr. will officiate. She was born March 9, 1925 in Mechanicsville, VA to Herbert Lewis Loving and Ollie Belle Chenault Loving. "Ollie" was a most devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. But foremost she loved her Father in Heaven. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church for many years until her huge hemorrhagic stroke in 2005. She was awarded Methodist Woman of the Year that year. She loved her friends and family in great measure, and her quiet faith and example sustained her. She has passed that sweet gift onto her posterity. She had to endure almost 11 years of severe, increasing brain damage until at last she slipped from this life to join Johnny, the love of her life, and to be with her Father in Heaven. She had prepared for her funeral in 1995, 10 years before her stroke so that her daughter Karen would not have to be burdened. Little did Karen know the details she would find which Ms. Ollie included in her instructions. She included poems and thoughts and hymns from which to choose. She loved the words of the hymn "All Things Bright and Beautiful" taken from the Methodist hymnal: All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small All things wise and wonderful The Lord God made them all. Each little flower that opens Each little bird that sings, He made their glowing colors He made their tiny wings. He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell How good is God our Father Who doeth all things well. She also included in her funeral planning a poem by Helen Steiner Rice: This is Just A Resting Place Sometimes the road of life seems long as we travel through the years An, with a heart thats broken and eyes brimful of tears We falter in our weariness and sink beside the way, But God leans down and whispers "Child, therell be another day" And the road will grow much smoother and much easier to face. So do not be disheartenedThis is just a "Resting Place." Finally in the funeral notes, she so admired Mother Teresa who wrote the following words: The Simple Path The fruit of silence is Prayer. The fruit of prayer is Faith. The fruit of faith is Love. The fruit of love is Service. The fruit of service is Peace. To those who helped the family care for "Ms. Ollie," there are not enough words to express the gratefulness of our hearts. The tender care given by "Ms.Ollies sitters and particular staff members at Croatan Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation, was so special. The love they gave will carry on, and these dear servants to Ms. Ollie, in her time of need will be remembered in the books of angels. They blessed her and they most definitely will be blessed in return. She is survived by her only child, Karen Jean Bloomfield and husband Richard Alan Bloomfield of Newport, NC her sister, Martha Jane Aigner of Mechanicsville, VA and her brother Herbert Lewis Loving Jr. also of Mechanicsville grandchildren Jennifer May Demos and husband Nick, Richard Alan Bloomfield, Jr. and wife Kimberly and their twin daughters Miriam and Catherine and grandson David Scott Bloomfield.
