Olaf 'John' Larsen

Obituary Olaf "John" Larsen, Jr., 91, of Morehead City, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Supplee, officiating. Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC. Mr. Larsen was born July 19, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Olaf and Ellen Larsen. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After the war he served for many years in the Army National Guard. Mr. Larsen confirmed his faith at Brooklyn Salvation Army at the age of 12 and devotedly served them for years. Mr. Larsen worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry. He was a devout Christian man. He served as moderator for the First Christian Church in Bay Shore, New York for nearly 30 years, prior to moving to North Carolina. He is a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Newport. For over sixty years he cherished the opportunity to become Santa Clause for his family and any organization that asked for help. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leola "Jo" Larsen of Morehead City; two daughters, JoAnn Pachulski and husband, Donald, of Charleston, SC, Susan Ellen Renna and husband, Richard, of Cape Carteret; five grandchildren, Eric John Pachulski, Michael John Pachulski, Lori Anne Ulin, Douglas James Baccoli and Raymond Charles Renna; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandaughter. In addition to his parents, a brother, Ernest Larsen, precedes him in death. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, NC Dept.
