Obituary Miriam H. Mary Russell, 82, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at her home. Graveside services will be Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Onslow Memorial Park with the Rev. Mary Frances Curns officiating. Mary was born December 1, 1931 in Calvert Co., MD to Joseph Tony and Helen Grace Jones Horsmon, one of 10 children. She attended business-college in Maryland, and upon moving to Jacksonville, owned The Magic Needle and was a bookkeeper for Pineapple Photography. She was a member of St. Annes Episcopal Church. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie L. Russell, of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law, Julie R. Russell, of Uvita, Costa Rica; a sister, Charlotte Russell, of St. Leonard, MD; 2 brothers, Vernon Horsmon of Solomon, MD, Tony Horsmon, of St. Petersburg, FL; 2 granddaughters, Crystalinn Mendez of Winston-Salem, Jade Merritts of Wilmington; a grandson, Daniel Russell of Carolina Beach; and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her husband, Richard S. Russell, II, son, Randolph Richard Randy Russell, 2 sisters and 6 brothers preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 2507 N. Marine Blvd., Jacksonville, NC 28546.
