Obituary Mildred Farner Clapsadl, 93 of Morehead City passed away January 20, 2015 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay in Sea Level, North Carolina. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, at St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. A private interment will follow at New Bern National Cemetery. Born July 8, 1921, she was a native of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late Sam Clapsadl. She graduated from Temple University in 1942 where she earned her degree in Nursing. They first became residents of Morehead City in 1949. Mildred worked as a registered nurse at Carteret General Hospital where she became the Director of Nursing in 1969 until her retirement in 1976. When she was not working at the hospital, Mildred could be found at St. Egberts, the Little League Field or fishing with her husband and 3 sons. Upon her retirement the hospital established the Clapsadl Nursing Excellence Award. The yearly award recognizes excellence in nursing and patient care just as Mildred exemplified. She was a dedicated professional who touched many families throughout her career as a nurse. The family wishes to thank the staff of Snug Harbor that treated her with much dignity, love and respect. She is survived by three sons; Mike, Dan, and Joe, along with their wives, six grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and a younger brother, Don Farner, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carteret Community College Nursing Program, 3505 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or Marthas Mission, P. O. Box 603, Morehead City, NC 28557.
