Obituary Michael L. Osborne, 58, of Newport, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Conner officiating. Michael was born September 10, 1955, in Pasquotank County to Mike A. Osborne and Sybil Maxine Scott Osborne. He spent 27 years in the hotel industry where he made many friends. From those associations, he received many cards and letters of appreciation for his care and attention with many of the guests returning year after year. He was devoted to his family and friends and was loved by everyone. He was full of life and laughter. He is survived by his life partner of 31 years, Tom Jordan, two sisters: Brenda O. Hawthorn and husband, Steve, of Blue Creek, Ohio, and Glenda O. Anthony and husband, Tommy, of Newport as well as 2 nieces and 2 nephews, 9 great-nieces and nephews and his 4 beloved pets; Skyler, Hailey, Tinley and Miss Kitty. In addition to his parents, his sister, Linda O. Scott, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3, 2014, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for the benefit of the family c/o Tom Jordan, 1794 NC Hwy 24, Newport, NC 28570. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Carteret General Hospital and Vidant Medical Center for Michaels excellent care during his illness.
