Obituary Michael Edward McGee, 60, of Harkers Island, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 12, at Straits United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Ben Horton, officiating. The interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. He was born July 29, 1955 in Morehead City to Thomas Edison McGee, Sr., and Iris Norris McGee. He served in the United States Coast Guard and retired from National Park Service, Cape Lookout Seashore, as the facility manager. He was active in the Straits/Harkers Island Meals on Wheels program. He is survived by his wife, Regina Willis McGee; mother-in-law, Carol R. Willis of the home; sister, Ellen McGee Piver and husband Joseph of Beaufort; brothers, Thomas E. McGee, Jr. and wife Martha, John R. McGee, Sr. and wife Virginia, and Robert S. McGee, Sr. and wife, Kim, all of Straits. In addition to his parents, Thomas E. McGee and Iris Norris McGee, his father-in-law, Roger Willis, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Straits/Harkers Island Meals on Wheels Program, 292 Piver Road, Beaufort, NC 28516.
