Obituary Mattie Piner Wheeler Roberts, 91, of Morehead City, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Carteret General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Morehead City, with the pastor, Dr. Nate Leonard and Rev. Darrell Williams, officiating. Mrs. Roberts was born on April 24, 1923, in Morehead City. She is survived by sons, Dempster W. Wheeler and wife, Carole, of Beaufort and John Reel Wheeler and wife, Sunnie Gail Ballou, of Morehead City; sister, Grace Reel Boshamer of Raleigh; and cousin, Carol Piner Barbour. Mother, Grace Reel Piner; sister, Rachel Piner Church; and brother, L. Woodland Piner, preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
