Obituary Marlys Jean Brooks, 66, of Newport died Monday, August 6, 2018 at her home. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the home on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Maryls was born in Ellsworth, Iowa to Roy and Ilayton Danger. She is survived by her husband Russell L. Brooks of Newport; one daughter Michelle Brooks and wife Maria, of Morehead City; one son Matthew Brooks and wife Julie, of Morehead City; two brothers George Danger of Eldora, IA and John Danger of Alden, IA; two sisters Sharon Cunningham of Lillington, NC and Susan Danger of Lancaster, MO; four grandchildren, Brianna Brooks of Morehead City, Matthew Brooks of Wilmington, Morgan Brooks of Wilmington and Aimee Brown of Newport. In addition to her parents, her brothers, Darrell, Leonard and Keven Danger precede her in death.
